Multiphase – MPFM-50 Series

The MPFM-50, manufactured by Agar Corporation, is a highly versatile multiphase flow meter designed to provide accurate, real-time measurements of oil, water, and gas flow rates simultaneously, without the need for physical phase separation. Designed to perform under the harshest field conditions, the equipment excels producing wells with any gas fraction (GVF from 0 to 100%) and any water concentration (water-cut from 0 to 100%), eliminating the need for large and expensive test separators, dramatically reducing CAPEX and OPEX costs. Its compact and portable construction allows for fixed or mobile installation, including trailer-mounted units, making it ideal for well optimization, production and field testing.

The great competitive advantage of this solution is that it is a totally non-nuclear technology, which eliminates the operational risks, licensing costs, safety requirements and transport bureaucracies associated with radioactive sources, offering a clean, safe and very low maintenance operation.

The MPFM-50 is designed to deliver stable, highly repeatable measurements in high or low viscosity fluids, without being influenced by variations in salinity or density. Its robust and modular architecture allows the equipment to act directly under extreme conditions of process pressure and temperature. By providing real-time liquid and gas flow data directly on the line, the system optimizes artificial lift and reservoir management techniques, making it a robust solution for production optimization and testing of onshore or offshore wells.

 

MPFM-50 Series – Standard Non-Nuclear: It is the consolidated standard NON-NUCLEAR solution for multiphase well testing. Unlike conventional multiphase meters that rely on gamma ray sources to determine phase fractions, the MPFM-50 utilizes Agar Corporation’s patented combination, offering an environmentally friendly and safe alternative.

 

AVAILABLE MOUNTING TYPES:

The MPFM-50 Series offers mechanical installation flexibility to suit plant infrastructure or mobility needs:

  1. Portable Skid Mount (Skid-Mounted / Mobile):
    • How it works: The meter is integrated into a self-supporting rigid metal structure (skid), which includes the process connections, isolation and bypass valves, as well as all wiring and local electronic panel.
    • Indication: Ideal for temporary well testing campaigns, where the equipment needs to be transported quickly between different onshore locations or platforms.
  2. In-line Installation:
    • How it works: The gauge is permanently flanged directly on the well production line or manifold.
    • Indication: Recommended for fixed installations of continuous monitoring of high productivity wells or on platforms with severely limited physical space.

The main applications where this type of equipment is essential include:

  • Well Testing: Replaces traditional and bulky test separators, allowing faster, more frequent and cost-effective well testing in both mature fields with a low gas-to-oil ratio and in high-productivity wells.
  • Artificial Lift Monitoring and Optimization: Provides instant flow data to optimize gas lift, submerged centrifugal pumping (BCS), or mechanical pumping systems, adjusting operating rates to maximize production.
  • Real-Time Reservoir Management: Identifies early advance of water or gas fronts in individual wells, allowing for quick corrective action to protect the reservoir.
  • Wet Gas Metering: Accurately measures the flow rate of gas and small fractions of associated liquids (condensate and water) in condensate gas wells.
  • Production Allocation: It allows the precise allocation of the volumes of oil, water and gas produced by different wells or platforms that share the same flow line and treatment system.
