Orifice Plate Holder

The Orifice Plate Holder, manufactured by Metroval, is a highly reliable differential pressure flow measurement device, developed in accordance with the international standards AGA 3, ISO 5167 and ASME B16.36. Designed for industrial applications and measurement systems, it provides high accuracy in gas flow measurement, it facilitates the operation, inspection and verification of data directly at the point of measurement, combining robustness and operational safety.

In the Double Chamber version, the equipment uses a system of isolated chambers that allows the safe movement of the orifice plate between the process line and the upper chamber, enabling its inspection or replacement without the need to interrupt the flow of the pipe.

Plate replacement without process stop

The dual-chamber design allows you to safely isolate, remove, and replace the orifice plate while fluid continues to flow through the pipeline, eliminating the cost of unplanned downtime.

Mechanical precision and centralism guaranteed

Operational Safety with Double Locking (DBB)

Available with the Double Block and Bleed option, which offers redundancy in sealing between chambers, ensuring zero risk of leakage into the atmosphere during maintenance.

Metroval plate holders are manufactured from ASTM certified materials, including Carbon Steel (A216 WCB/WCC / A352 LCC), Stainless Steel (A351 CF8M/CF3M) and Duplex / Super Duplex steels, with 316 Stainless Steel internal components. Designed to operate in pressure classes from 150# to 2500# per ASME standard, and up to 10,000# per API 6A, they serve pipe diameters from 2″ to 30″. Equipment can be supplied in accordance with NACE specifications for corrosive fluid (H2S) services. Pressure taps can be configured as threaded, welded, flanged or integrated, making it a robust and versatile solution for refineries, offshore platforms and pipelines.

Its great differential is the Guide System, a high-precision guide system that ensures perfect alignment and centeredness of the plate throughout the operation, ensuring stable, repeatable measurements and in compliance with metrological requirements. The equipment also incorporates a central operating manifold with integrated pressure gauge and built-in drive shafts, allowing operation on both sides and providing greater ergonomics, safety and ease of operation.

 

AVAILABLE MOUNTING TYPES:

The equipment offers different end configurations for integration with the pipe:

  1. Flange Mounting (RF/RTJ):
    • How it works: The plate holder has integral flanges at the ends (Highlighted Face or Ring Type Joint) for direct connection with the pipe flanges.
    • Indication: Recommended to facilitate the complete removal of the body of the plate holder for greater maintenance.
  2. Butt Weld Mounting (BW x BW):
    • How it works: The ends are prepared for direct welding into the pipe (Butt Weld).
    • Indication: Ideal for eliminating flange leak points and reducing the total weight of the installation in high pressure lines.
  3. Mixed Assembly (RF/RTJ x BW):
    • How it works: Combines a flanged end (Raised Face or Ring Type Joint) with a weld-ready end.

The main applications where this type of equipment is essential include:

  • Natural Gas Metering Stations (City Gates): Fiscal metering and flow control at gas delivery points where interruption of supply is prohibited.
  • Oil and Gas Production (Upstream): Measurement of the flow of produced gas and injection gas (Gas Lift) on platforms and onshore fields.
  • Refineries and Petrochemical Plants: Flow monitoring in steam, hydrocarbon and process gas lines with high pressure and temperature.
  • Transportation by Gas and Oil Pipelines: Used in compressor and pumping stations for mass balance control and leak detection.
  • Flare and Ventilation Systems: Relief gas flow measurement for environmental emission control and plant safety.
