The METROCONE Series Cone Flow Meter, manufactured by Metroval, is a differential pressure flow meter designed for accurate measurements of liquids, gases, and steam in industrial applications. Built in accordance with ISO 5167-5, it uses a conical deprimogenous element installed in the center of the pipe, providing high measurement stability and excellent performance even in disturbed flow conditions.
The great differential of METROCONE is its capacity for self-conditioning of the flow. The cone geometry naturally redistributes the velocity profile of the fluid prior to measurement, significantly reducing the need for straight runs and eliminating the need for flow rectifiers in most applications. As a result, the equipment offers high metrological reliability, low permanent pressure loss and a compact solution for space-constrained installations.
The Metrocone uses the principle of differential pressure, in which the restriction caused by the cone generates a pressure difference directly related to the flow rate of the fluid. Its geometry was developed to promote the conditioning of the velocity profile along the pipeline, reducing the influence of hydraulic disturbances and providing excellent metrological stability even under challenging installation conditions.
Available in diameters from 2″ to 20″, supporting working pressures of up to 10,000 psi (690 bar), according to API 10K, the equipment can be manufactured in carbon steel, stainless steel (304, 316 and 316L), Duplex, Super Duplex, Hastelloy and other special alloys, meeting severe applications of liquids, gases and steam. To ensure maximum metrological performance, each Metrocone is subjected to dimensional calibration and dynamic calibration in a laboratory accredited by the RBC (Brazilian Calibration Network). This process allows the determination of the specific discharge coefficient of each equipment, ensuring metrological traceability, high accuracy and total reliability in the measurements.
